President Uhuru Warns Jubilee MPs After Moses Kuria's Arrest

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday warned Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) against hate speech and politics fanning tribal animosity.

While addressing the parliamentarians at State House hours before the joint parliamentary sitting, Uhuru, who is also the Jubilee Party leader, vowed to take firm action on any party member who violated this order.

This statement comes barely a day after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who was elected under the Jubilee Party was arrested over hate speech.

Mr Kuria was arrested alongside former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who was also arrested on the same charges.

Muthama and Mr Kuria were detained at Pangani Police station where they spent the night before being arraigned in court on Tuesday morning.

Kuria went off on a live facebook stream hurling insults at National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga noting that he (Raila) had become a headache for the Jubilee administration.

Over the weekend, Muthama was also on the spot after he declared that the opposition would swear in Odinga if President Uhuru Kenyatta is sworn in illegally.

Last year, the same politicians were detained at Pangani Police station before being charged for hate speech alongside four other legislators.

Mr Kenyatta will today address the first joint parliamentary sitting which the NASA Parliamentarians had threatened to boycott.
