No More Matatus in Nairobi CBD as New Order Takes Effect

New rules barring matatus from entering Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) have been scheduled to take effect on Wednesday, 20th September 2017.

The rules will be enforced by City Hall, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board and the Administration Police.

Following the new order, all routes accessing the CBD from Waiyaki Way, Uhuru Highway, Kipande Road and Limuru road will be parking at Murang'a Road (Fig Tree) terminus A.

The new terminus for all routes accessing the CBD from Thika Road will be at Murang'a Road (Fig Tree) terminus B.

Vehicles operating from Jogoo road and Lusaka road will park at Muthurwa Terminus whereas those from Ngong Road will park at Railway terminus.

All other termini in the plan include Desai Service Road Terminus, Park Road Terminus, Hakati Terminus, Machakos terminus and the Central Bus Station.

In May, the Nairobi City Council had notified Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators and the general public of the changes to the omnibus Termini and routes.

The notice declared that all letters allocating any other places as picking and dropping areas in CBD were revoked and would become null and void as from 20th September.
