Kenya's DJ Mo Issues Public Apology Over Offensive Comment to Single Mums

One of Kenya's most popular disc jockeys, Sammy Muraya, commonly referred to as DJ Mo, has issued a public apology to single mums after he issued a scathing attack on Nation writer Njoki Chege.

Trouble started after the DJ appeared on an online magazine where he revealed how he took his wife, Size 8, through a series of tests to determine her loyalty.

Mo got a serious bashing from a section of Kenyans who condemned his thinking as 'primitive' and Ms Chege in her column asked him to apologise to his wife.

The DJ was angered by this statement and took to his Instagram account to tell off Chege, saying he would pray for her to get married.

On Tuesday, DJ Mo put up a post saying he was sorry and acknowledged that he acted in the heat of the moment.

He expressed regret and stated that being a public figure he ought to have conducted himself in a more diligent manner.

"...So about the Article... The Bible warns us in Psalm 37:8 to refrain from anger as it leads to evil....While I know I have every right to stand up for myself and the integrity of my family, I erred and I made an unfortunate comment about Njoki being a single mum.
"While my fury was directed to her, I ended up hurting a lot of single mums out there including my MOTHER and it’s with deep humility that I take this opportunity to apologize to you all and more specifically to Njoki Chege," read the post in part.
