Blow to NASA as ODM Leaders Decamp to Jubilee

More than 10 leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Kajiado have announced their decision to move to Jubilee and back President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.

Led by Kajiado ODM Chairperson Daniel Osoi, the leaders accused National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga of sidelining them in the planning of important issues and working with only specific individuals.

Mr Osoi stated: “Since 1992, I have been a loyal supporter of ODM but I have not managed to clinch a single development project for my people. Raila has been frustrating us as he is not accessible to discuss important issues."

They denied allegations that they had been offered financial incentives to ditch NASA, stating that many elected leaders in the county were from Jubilee and they were only interested in working together for the good of the people.

They further claimed to have received nothing but empty promises from the former Prime Minister, noting that they had been using their own resources to campaign for him.

They also alleged that Raila had not reached out to re-strategize on the fresh polls.

Mr Odinga was in Kajiado a few weeks ago where he campaigned alongside former Governor David Nkedianye and Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi Kanchory.

Nkedianye lost to Jubilee's Joseph Ole Lenku in the August polls and has filed a petition challenging Lenku's win.

Mr Odinga had announced his support for the petition and described Governor Ole Lenku as a 'computer-generated governor'.

Kajiado is considered a battleground area and both camps will be working to win a majority of votes in the county.
