Wavinya Ndeti Gets 1st Win in Her Petition Against Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been ordered by Machakos High Court to present all election materials used in the Machakos gubernatorial race.

This comes following an application by former gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti, who filed an election petition challenging Governor Alfred Mutua's re-election.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, the High Court judge ordered the IEBC to submit the electronic kits and other materials used during the election during the next hearing.

The delivery of the materials will help the court ascertain whether there was malpractice in the Machakos Gubernatorial election.

The electoral body has been given until Friday next week to file all the materials used to conduct the elections.

In the petition, Mrs Ndeti claimed that Mutua's victory was marred by irregularities and massive rigging that led to the failure to sign forms 34A, 37B and 37C as required by the law.

She also alleged that there were non-gazetted polling centres leading to the unlawful announcement of Mutua as the winner of the governorship race.

The former MP who vied on a Wiper Party lost the gubernatorial race to Governor Mutua who vied on his Maendeleo Chap Chap.
