President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA Flag Bearer Raila Odinga Unite Ahead of October 26 Election

President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga have united in pledging to concede defeat if they lose the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26.

Speaking during the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Samuel Mbugua, President Kenyatta stated that he had chosen to respect the Supreme Court ruling that nullified his election and challenged Mr Odinga to concede defeat should he lose in the rerun.

“We respect the decision, even if we do not agree with it. Let us wait for the ballot. Let’s get back to work so that Kenyans can decide and whatever they will decide, we shall accept it and move on,” the President stated.

On his part Mr Odinga stated that should Mr Kenyatta defeat him in the fresh election, he would accept and move on.

The Opposition chief noted that during the 2013 election, he lost and after the Supreme Court upheld Mr Kenyatta’s victory, he accepted and moved on.

“Political competitions are not wars. People campaign, fight and there are winners and losers, and life continues,” Mr Odinga stated.

“We are here again and I am sure we are going to resolve these issues. If it’s my brother Uhuru who will win, I will accept the will of the people because I know if it’s me he will also respect that,” he added.

Earlier on, President Kenyatta had stated that the Jubilee Party would impeach Odinga if he won in the repeat presidential election.

In an address at State House, the Head of State noted that Jubilee had the numbers in Parliament and the leaders could amend the Constitution at any time.
