The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) will, in the next seven days, revoke the operating licences of 13 courier operators stationed in Nairobi.
In a gazette notice dated June 13, 2025, the authority confirmed that the operators include four international courier operators and nine national courier operators.
"NOTICE is given pursuant to the provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act (Cap. 411A) that the Communications Authority of Kenya shall revoke the postal licences of the following service providers within seven (7) days from the date of this Gazette Notice," the notice stated.
The International Courier Operators include Afrasia Courier Express, Courier Plus Logistics, Rioma Courier Services Limited, and Delta Handling Services.
The National Courier operators include Crucible Investment, Ultimate North, Cilantro Solutions, Classic Luxury, Diamond Parcel Limited, EMD Solutions Company Limited, Four M Africa Limited, Eve on the Move Limited, and Garvins Logistics.
Courier service providers focus on the delivery of parcels, documents, and goods in the country and across borders.
If the government revokes the licences of a courier service provider, it means the company is no longer authorised to provide parcel transportation services.
A courier service provider's licences can be revoked for several reasons, primarily because of failing to meet regulatory requirements and maintain service quality.
However, other common causes include non-payment of licence renewal fees, failure to meet service quality standards, and privacy and data security breaches
It is not the first time the authority has revoked licences of courier services. Through a gazette notice dated July 6, 2024, the CA also scrapped the licences of 27 courier operators.
"Upon revocation of the licences listed hereabove, the service providers/operators shall not be authorised to operate and provide the service," the gazette notice read.
The CA is the body mandated with regulating and licencing companies intending to offer courier services across the country.
