Babu Owino's New Announcement After Calling Uhuru a Puppy

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has stated that he will not apologize to anyone for the remarks he made on Sunday describing President Uhuru Kenyatta as a puppy.

Babu was accused of calling the President a 'son of a dog' but he has come out to clear his name saying he did not mention anyone during his address.

"I will not apologize to anyone because I called nobody’s name during my yesterday’s address.

"We have so many presidents in Kenya, from the President of SONU (Students Organization of Nairobi University) to all presidents of students union in Kenya, President of the Supreme Court, President of Youth senate and many more," he wrote on his Facebook page.

He added that he will stick to objective politics and never abuses people.

"Let my brothers and sisters from the Kikuyu nation know that I did not abuse their president. One Kenya one nation."

He then stated that calling someone a puppy is not an abuse.

"Lastly in law calling someone a mtoto wa umbwa (a puppy) is not an abuse. God bless Kenya," he concluded.

On calls for his arrest, the former SONU Chairman responded by saying "if the police want to arrest me let them do it now. The cell is meant for human beings, not animals."

Several leaders called for his arrest including Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.

Kuria on Monday gave various government agencies a 24-hour ultimatum saying that he would take matters into his own hands if the authorities did not arrest Mr Owino by close-of-day.

The Gatundu legislator sent the message calling for Babu's arrest to Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, NCIC Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo and Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko.
