Police Boss Speaks on Withdrawing Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka's Security Guards

Deputy Inspector General of Police Joel Kitili has commented on the alleged withdrawal of bodyguards assigned to NASA co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka bodyguards saying he is not aware.

Kitili on Tuesday stated he had not received any information regarding the matter moments after a source in the opposition coalition revealed that the security detail of the two had handed in their gadgets.

Reports indicate the police officers assigned to Odinga and Musyoka were reportedly recalled and told to hand over their police radios so that they could not monitor police communication.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communication Philip  Etale condemned the move revealing the guards have been deployed to North Eastern Kenya.

NASA had announced that they would hold peaceful protests to the IEBC offices at Anniversary Towers in their quest to "remove" officials they claim are to blame for the nullified August 8th presidential election.

The protests comes even as the commission urged the NASA leadership to put off the demonstration to enable a joint consultative meeting between IEBC, Jubilee Party and the opposition coalition scheduled for Wednesday.

IEBC had sent out a detailed response to NASA on how the agency intends to conduct and manage the repeat presidential election.

The opposition has set a raft of conditions that the commission must meet before its candidate Mr Odinga participates in the October 26 election.

The list of “irreducible minimums” includes the personnel changes in which NASA wants electoral officials, including commissioner Abdi Guliye, CEO Ezra Chiloba and his deputy Betty Nyabuto to be shown the door.

They also include reforms on election technology, identification of a new printer for the ballot papers as well as operational and logistical changes.
