National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has cancelled the planned demos against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that were set to continue tomorrow Friday, September 29.
While addressing the media on Thursday afternoon, Odinga stated that they would resume protests on Monday and will hold the demonstrations every Monday and Friday.
The former prime minister has maintained that changes must be implemented by the poll body before he agrees to participate in the election.
The opposition particularly wants IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba to step down and even questioned the pushing of the election date to October 26 saying the electoral body wants to hand President Uhuru Kenyatta victory on his birthday.
Odinga also condemned the recent move by the government to block NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka from travelling to Uganda.
According to Odinga, airport authorities have been instructed to ensure that Musyoka gets clearance from State House before leaving Kenya.
"The (airport) authorities have disclosed that henceforth Hon. Musyoka and I will need clearance from State House before leaving the country," Mr Odinga revealed in a statement to newsrooms.
The former premier issued the statement shortly after Kalonzo and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on Thursday left the country following a struggle with government officials.
The two are said to have been stalled at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where the authorities allegedly attempted to bar them from travelling.
Odinga has since condemned the move saying that it is indicative of a serious decline of the political situation in the country.
