Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been released after being re-arrested on Wednesday on assault charges.
The Kibra Law Courts granted Mr Owino a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh500,000.
The presiding magistrate warned Owino not to interfere with or intimidate witnesses or risk cancellation of bond.
In granting bail, the Court stated that the prosecution did not give compelling reasons as to why Babu should be detained.
The MP was facing charges of inflicting grievous harm to a voter, Joshua Otieno Obiende, on the August 8th, 2017. Mr Otieno was also seeking the Embakasi East parliamentary seat on an ANC Party ticket.
Owino was also accused of using force contrary to election laws on the same day as he assaulted Mr Obiende in the company of others.
The prosecution argued that if Owino is found guilty he should be jailed for life for possible contravention of Chapter Six of the Constitution and Leadership and Integrity Act.
On Wednesday, Owino was re-arrested outside Milimani Law Courts he was freed on a Sh500,000 cash bail with two sureties of Sh1 Million.
He had spent two nights in police cells after he was arrested over derogatory statements against the presidency.
