The new month is here with us! What better way to start October than getting your life together with proper planning and orderly implementation for maximum satisfaction.
To this effect, it is advisable to deal with responsibilities which we tend to ignore and act on them before running out of time and money.
1. Payment of bills
Are you a victim of poor planning where you tend to overindulge in weekend bashes without thinking about bills? Well, this is the weekend to get ahead and avoid falling into the trap of a broke mid-month overwhelmed with unsettled bills.
Settle your electricity and the water bill in advance and don't forget to paryment the most important of them all; your rent.
2. Get Your Shopping Done
Time to write up that shopping list and get essential items for your household before the days start getting tough.
Kitchen supplies, for those who cook, foodstuff such as maize flour, wheat flour or rice. You can complement that with vegetables, fruits, and other edibles.
Important to note, be sure to carry your bag because they are not being offered at the supermarkets anymore after the countrywide plastic ban.
3. Make Time for family
Are you always busy? Always running errands here and there? A little planning can help you sort out some of those issues where you account for every hour in your day.
Once you cut out most of the time wasting activities, you can manage to set aside some time to catch up with family and keep in touch to strengthen your bond.
4. Take your Girlfriend/ boyfriend and get tested for HIV
As a young person, what best way to plan for your future than by knowing your HIV status and that of your partner.
You can start now and be a hero by confirming your HIV status because, with the knowledge, you are in a better position to take care of yourself and the ones you love.
Getting tested is the first step and there is no shame in being positive as it is not the end of the world.
Anti-retrovirals (ARV's) are accessible in health facilities which will help reduce the impact of the virus in the body.
When you are on HIV treatment, your future is your biggest concern and the viral load test enables you to prevent the risk of falling ill and gives an indication of how well the HIV medication is working for you.
Who should do a viral load test?
A viral load test is meant for anyone who has been on ARV treatment for at least 6 months, expectant mothers or a patient in a discordant relationship. It should be done annually by all people who are taking ARVs.
It is important to be aware of your viral load count for a number of reasons, but mostly, to determine the progress of the disease, the effectiveness of ARVs and if there is any need for change in medication.
During your clinic appointment day, ask your healthcare provider to refer you to the nearest lab and have your viral load done.
Show you care by actually being there. Be their hero by knowing your health status and living to the best of your abilities start now. #AnzaSasa.
