DP Ruto Agrees With NASA Leader Raila Odinga

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday agreed with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga that he (Ruto) is the one who masterminded the formation of a coalition government in 2008.

Addressing a rally in Karatina, the DP confessed that indeed he was the one who pushed for a 'Nusu-Mkate' government while negotiating for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party at the time.

"Ni kweli mimi nilikusaidia ukapata coalition government ya 2007. Lakini tabia yako mbaya ilituhangaisha. Badala ya kufanya kazi ukaanza kuhangaisha mzee Kibaki hadi akashindwa kutekeleza majukumu yake (It is true I helped you in forming the coalition government but your bad behavior frustrated us. Instead of helping Mzee Kibaki deliver his agenda you frustrated him with petty demands)," DP Ruto explained.

He added that the Opposition leader's current strategy involved creating a crisis to get support from Kenyans to get into State House.

“We want to tell him that even if he moves from London, Paris or Washington he should forget the Government of nusu mkate,” he reiterated.

Reacting to Odinga’s claim that other opposition candidates were stooges of Jubilee, the DP conveyed: “Better a stooge of Jubilee, than a stooge of foreign interests.”

DP Ruto asked the people to send Mr Odinga home on permanent retirement adding that they could only do so by voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“It is Raila that went to court to ask that the elections be repeated. It cannot be that he now does not want. Or he wants short-cuts. That no one knows whether he is in the elections or not. That is not the direction our country wishes to take.

“We are ready. Leave your conditions. Leave your demonstrations. We are all under the law. It is not an option for anyone to respect the constitution. The constitution says there must be an election supervised by the (the electoral agency) IEBC,” Ruto maintained.

On his part, Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata disclosed that the Opposition leaders were not interested in elections because they had already sensed defeat.

“Those in Opposition are just interested in nusu-mkate government because they have already sensed defeat and will not want to be humiliated at the ballot come October 26,” the Senator stated.

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu urged residents in Central Kenya to turn out in large numbers and vote for President Kenyatta.

“We should turn out in large numbers to vote for President Kenyatta and ensure Mr Odinga is given a political retirement once and for all,” he stated.
