NASA MP Reveals Plan to Inject Babu Owino With Chemicals

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has alleged that there is a plot by the Government to arrest him and his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino for leading National Super Alliance (NASA) demonstrations in Nairobi.

Mr Arati further revealed that their sources had informed them that once they were in custody, an attempt would be made to inject them with chemicals.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Arati stated: "The police are working on orders from above...We have insider information on their plan. They want to arrest us and later inject us with chemicals."

He spoke after leading anti-IEBC demonstrations in Nairobi, disregarding a ban issued on Thursday by acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on protests within the Central Business Districts of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

They were met with teargas at Harambee Avenue, Parliament buildings and around the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices at Anniversary Towers.

Arati insisted that they would not be intimidated and assured NASA supporters that the daily protests would proceed as planned.

"In fact by arresting us they are giving us mileage," Arati stated.

The coalition announced that they would undertake demonstrations daily to call for reforms at the IEBC following the withdrawal of former Premier Raila Odinga's candidature from the October 26th election.

They declared that there would be no election on the set date as they have no faith in the electoral body as currently constituted to conduct a credible poll.

The Government has maintained that the countrywide demonstrations must be peaceful and has not hesitated to use force on the protesters.

Three protesters were shot dead last week in Bondo while many more sustained serious injuries across the country.
