President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured Kenyans that maximum security will be deployed across the nation on October 26th, the date for the fresh Presidential election.
The President was speaking on Friday during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Park, Nairobi. He guaranteed Kenyans that his administration is prepared to counter threats that will arise during and after the electioneering period.
He further reiterated that security has been enhanced all over the country and more police deployed around the country to maintain law and order. The president ascertained that his administration would not sit back and watch as lives are lost or property destroyed.

Towards this end, all security organs have been enhanced and appropriately deployed to maintain law and order.
The law will apply equally to all, regardless of social class or political position, and no one will be spared. Having had an uninterrupted election cycle for the second time, my administration will not allow a repeat of the painful past where lives and properties were lost,” he stated.
President Uhuru cautioned Kenyans against leaders who want to cause chaos and anarchy in the country as the nation heads to the poll. He further reminded people that the country cannot be in an election period forever.
He stated: “We must, therefore, wake up and say no to any misleading leader out to plunge Kenya into chaos. Kenyans have the choice and the means of resisting such leaders."
Reshuffles in the National Police Service were made by the government six days to the repeat presidential election. Police Spokesperson George Kinoti stated that police commanders had identified areas which are considered to be election violence hotspots.
Police have put in place new measures aimed at ensuring voters are protected and election officials assured of safety as they conduct the rerun. A stern warning was issued by Mr Kinoti against those who plan on attempting to block elections from taking place.
It is not clear what prompted the changes but Police Headquarters indicated that they were meant to enhance operations in various areas ahead of the election.
