Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who doubles up as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Chairperson, has warned opposition leaders against attacking former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking in Homa Bay County during Albert Ojwang's burial, Wanga warned the leaders to look for an alternative and more meaningful agenda instead of criticising Odinga.

''Leave Raila alone. We cannot have an opposition of scavengers and clueless fellows who do not know what they are talking about, and all they are talking about is Raila,'' Wanga warned.

The Homa Bay Governor dismissed the recent attacks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition figures, terming their sentiments against Odinga as shallow and divisive.

''You fellows who are walking around Kenya trying to divide the nation along tribal lines and hung on the course that Gen Zs have walked faithfully on are wrong,'' she continued.

The governor also defended the Broad-Based Government, assuring the residents that they would continue to follow Raila and Ruto's paths without relenting despite the criticism.

Wanga's sentiments come amidst growing political tensions within the opposition, especially after Raila cooperated with Ruto in the broad-based government, with some Azimio-affiliated leaders accusing Raila of betrayal.

''That is the journey that we are on, and we are going to walk it without shame,'' Wanga said.

Additionally, the governor accused the opposition of using the Gen Z-led protests to destabilise the government and position himself for power.

''The Gen Z will not allow you to hijack that course for your selfish reasons,'' Wanga continued.

Wanga further assured that the party remains committed to its course and will not be bullied into abandoning its leader.

At their latest rally in Western Kenya, opposition leaders, including  Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, Kalonzo Musyoka, and George Natembeya, launched attacks on the Ruto administration and also took sharp jabs at Raila Odinga as well.
