Raila Makes Major Announcements on Next Week's Election

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Friday took his No Reforms No Election campaign to Bondo where he called on his supporters not to participate in next week's election.

Speaking at a memorial service for three National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters who were shot dead during last week's demos, Mr Odinga announced that he will address the nation on October 25th on the way forward concerning the repeat poll.

"On October 25th I will address Kenyans to tell them what to do. I have looked ahead and I know where I am taking this ship," he stated.

Regarding the election, the former Prime Minister explained that NASA looked at the playing field and realized that it was not even, forcing it to quit.

The former Premier made a humble request to all his supporters not to attack traders and supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto since they "are innocent and also suffering".

Mr Odinga explained that the sins of President Kenyatta are his and should not be put on all Kikuyus.

"Do not try to revenge against innocent people. Do not attack a Kikuyu who owns a business in Bondo. That Kikuyu is innocent and is suffering just like we are," he stated.

He stated that the Kikuyus were his people adding that they always call him 'baba' whenever he visits them.

"Recently I went to Kiambu for a funeral and Kikuyus called me baba in front of Uhuru," Odinga noted.

Other leaders who spoke at the service included Siaya Senator James Orengo and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who re-affirmed the coalition's position that there will be no election without reforms.
