Deport Akombe - Isiolo Senator Demands

Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo has called for the deportation of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Dr Roselyne Akombe.

The Senator accused Akombe of illegally pocketing Per diem allowances on her trip to Dubai, during which she took a detour to the United States.

Speaking in Isiolo on Friday, she stated: "Tuhakikishe ya kwamba international community warudishe huyo Akombe Kenya kwa sababu ameharibu mengi sana (Let's make sure the international community sends Akombe back to Kenya because she has spoilt a lot)."

Dr Akombe announced her resignation from the electoral body on Wednesday while in New York, alleging her life was in danger.

She had traveled to Dubai supposedly to supervise the printing of ballot papers by Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing, but took a detour and flew to New York.

She then announced her resignation from the electoral body, exposing details of an allegedly compromised commission.

Dr Akombe declared that the October 26 Presidential election could not be credible.

"Decisions are made somewhere else and passed on for ratification and implementation.

"Commissioners and senior staff at the secretariat are put in line through bribery and threats. If you don’t agree with them then your life is in danger," she stated in a subsequent interview.

Senator Dullo also happened to be Co-chair alongside William Cheptumo of the Joint Select Committee that pushed controversial amendments to electoral laws fronted by Jubilee through Parliament.
