Police officers in Nairobi's Kibra area were forced to hurl stones at protesters after they ran out of teargas cannisters on Thursday morning.
There was a standoff between members of the public and anti-riot police after protesters barricaded roads leading to a number of polling stations in the area.
Police resorted to firing teargas to disperse the crowd but at some point they ran out of the canisters, opting to throw stones to contain the rioters.

Kibra is widely considered an Opposition stronghold due to its ties with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga and a majority of voters in the area heeded to his call to boycott the election.
At Olympic Primary School, ballot papers were delivered under heavy police presence and over 100 officers were dispatched to the school to handle any eventualities.
Meanwhile, voting went on smoothly in Jubilee Party strongholds though there was a significant dip in the voter turn out as compared to the August election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
Voters lined up before dawn at a polling station in President Uhuru Kenyatta's hometown of Gatundu and electoral workers prepared ballot papers by flashlight after heavy rains caused a blackout in the area.
"Our hope for the country is that whoever emerges the winner will be able to unite the country, which is already torn apart by politicians and politics of the day," stated a Gatundu resident.
Kenyatta, who was declared the winner in August with 54 percent of the vote, reiterated in a Wednesday address that security forces would be deployed nationwide to ensure order, and urged Kenyans to vote in large numbers.
The Opposition leader on Wednesday referred to the election as a sham and asked his supporters to remain at home.

He further instructed them to maintain peace and pleaded with them to embrace their neighbours who had dissenting views.
The NASA leader also mentioned that from now onwards, NASA would change from being a coalition to a resistance movement.
