Voter Carries Old Man on His Back While Voting [PHOTO]

A man from an unidentified polling station was on Thursday pictured carrying an old voter on his back while queuing up to vote and the photo was widely shared online.

Some media users reported that the photo was taken in Bahati in Nakuru County while contrasting reports indicated that the picture was taken in Tharaka Nithi County.

Either way, the photo brought the much-needed humour amidst all the unrest and chaos in some polling stations.

The unidentified man braved the morning cold to cast his vote and was lauded for his action.

During the August polls, Githeri Man hit the headlines after he was pictured queuing with a bag of boiled maize and beans.

Voting began early in several polling stations around the country on Thursday although there was a significant dip in voter turn out.

In Jubilee Party strongholds, the process went ahead uninterrupted and voters expressed optimism that the process would be completed early enough.

The situation was different in opposition strongholds as protesters blocked IEBC officials from dispatching election materials.

In Kibra, there was a stand-off between police and rioters who blocked sections of roads leading to polling stations.

Very little activity was reported as returning officers remained behind closed doors for fear of attacks.
