Hassan Omar Advises Uhuru What He Should Do to Raila's Supporters

Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta not to discriminate against supporters of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking after voting in Mombasa, the Senator stated that it was the democratic right of the voters to boycott elections and they should not be victimised for that.

He added that despite the destruction of property, Kenyatta should embrace them and give them jobs to build the country.

"We respect Raila's supporters who did not want to be part of this process.

"We should listen to their cries but when the new government takes over they should be treated equally despite boycotting polls.

"Bringing down walls is easier than rebuilding. They should be given jobs to rebuild the country according to their respective qualifications," stated Omar.

Earlier this week, Mr Odinga asked his supporters not to vote and directed them to stay at home in protest of what he termed a 'sham election.'

From the numbers recorded this time, most supporters of the opposition did not participate in the exercise though a few still voted for the former Prime Minister.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati was forced to postpone the election in Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay and Kisumu County due to hostility from the residents, stating that the poll would be held on Saturday.

Residents of Homa Bay on Friday morning warned Chebukati against pushing them to vote against their will and maintained that no voting would take place in their county as Saturday is a day of worship for a majority of them.
