The region experienced violent protests during the October 26 presidential poll that saw many of the NASA supporters hinder IEBC officials from conducting the poll.

The anti-election protesters set up roadblocks along major roads, refused to apply for IEBC jobs and intimidated election officials posted in the areas which led to many of the officials resigning and some fleeing for their lives.
