Deputy President William Ruto has stated that 7.5 million Kenyans turned up to vote in the repeat presidential election.
In an interview with CNN on Saturday, DP Ruto dismissed claims by National Super Alliance (NASA) Flag bearer Raila Odinga that only 3.5 million Kenyans had turned up to vote.
Ruto further stated that the voter 6.5 million voter turnout announced by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati was just an estimate.
The Deputy President noted that the nine percent of Kenyans were denied their right to vote by organised militia who ensured that election officials and election materials did not make it to the polling stations.
“91 percent of Kenyans who voted for Uhuru Kenyatta in August turned out again and voted for us on Thursday,” DP Ruto stated.
“We will soon be having a swearing-in in accordance with the constitution of Kenya,” he added.

On Friday, Chebukati announced that actual figures from 267 constituencies showed that 6,553,858 Kenyans turned out to vote in the repeat poll.
The IEBC Chairman further stated that the voter turnout was estimated at 48 percent by 5 pm on Thursday.
He stated that only 35,564 polling stations opened for voting representing 87 percent of all the 40,883 polling centers in the country.
Elections in Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay and Siaya were postponed following demonstrations staged by NASA supporters.
