According to figures from the commission, Mr Kenyatta has garnered 98% of the vote, representing 7.5 million votes.

He is expected to receive his certificate alongside Deputy President William Ruto.

The electoral body's Vice-Chair, Consolata Maina, stated that the final tally would not be affected by the postponement of elections in four counties; Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori.

She stated: "Where an election is postponed, the election should be held at the earliest practical time."

She further divulged that they had consulted various agencies and decided to announce the results without the four counties as they would not have an impact on the final tally.
