Inspector General Joseph Boinnet Asked to Arrest Orengo

Five Jubilee leaders from Embu County have asked Inspector General Joseph Boinnet to immediately arrest Siaya Senator James Orengo and charge him with treason.

The leaders include Senator Njeru Ndwiga, Mbeere North MP Charles Njagagua, Mbeere South lawmaker Geoffrey King'ang'iJohn Muchiri of Manyatta and Nominated Senator Cecily Mbarire.

They asked Boinnet to apprehend Orengo for stating that NASA leader Raila Odinga would be sworn-in as the Head of State if IEBC declares President Uhuru Kenyatta winner of the repeat poll.

The leaders stated that Odinga had not won any constitutionally conducted presidential election since the August 8 vote was cancelled.

"I am not surprised by the remarks since the Alliance has already converted into a resistance movement. I consider this just one of the moves the resistance is planning to make," Njagagua stated.

"They should know Kenya is not a banana republic and that they will be dealt with accordingly," he added.

Ndwiga stated that the threat by Orengo showed that the Opposition had reached "very high levels of desperation".

Ms Mbarire accused NASA of disregarding the constitution and using jungle rule to get power.

On his part, Muchiri stated that no government agency could side with anybody illegally declaring himself President.

Last week, Orengo and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama stated that they did not recognise Kenyatta as President and maintained that Odinga was the people's Head of State.
