The National Super Alliance (NASA) and its affiliate parties are under the risk of being deregistered after a petition to have them investigated was filed to the Registrar of Political Parties.
On Tuesday, a Jubilee-affiliated group led by former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba stated that the coalition was engaging in acts that are in breach of the Constitution and Political Parties Act.
Reading out the statement on behalf of Mr Namwamba, former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana pointed out NASA's National Resistance Movement (NRM) as contradicting the constitution.
“We by this petition humbly beseech you to invoke your powers under section 34 (a) and (g) and 21 (a), (d), (f) of the Political Parties Act and commence investigations and disciplinary proceedings that may lead to the process of deregistration of the NASA coalition,” Mungatana conveyed.
The affiliate parties include the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), FORD Kenya, Amani National Congress (ANC) and Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM).

On his part, the former Budalangi MP congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto after they were declared winners of the repeat election.
“We want to send our congratulatory message to his Excellency President Kenyatta and his Deputy on their victory in the fresh elections conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on 26th October,” Namwamba stated.
Meanwhile, the Opposition has announced the formation of a People's Assembly as part of NASA's new wing, the Resistance Movement.
Addressing media on Tuesday, Mr Odinga stated that the People's Assembly would be the vehicle that would be used to take Kenya back to democracy and constitutionalism.
A task force will be set up to look into various issues; including the failure of electoral and other independent bodies, protection of devolution and historical grievances.
The recommendations of the task force will then be brought before the People's Assembly for ratification.
