Jubilee MP Warns Against Provoking NASA

Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has warned his Jubilee Party counterparts against antagonizing the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Mr Kutuny defended the Opposition stating that they had lost an election and their reaction was out of anger.

Mr Kutuny, who is a former advisor to President Uhuru Kenyatta, requested fellow legislators from both Jubilee and NASA to have some decorum during this time when the country is going through ethnic tensions.

“Assuming I was on the President’s advisory team, I would advise that we as Jubilee need to avoid by all means antagonizing the opposition,” Mr Kutuny stated.

“If we antagonize the losers they tend to reiterate and how do they reiterate? They go and gang up, so it becomes an issue of even if you won, we will make sure you have no peace,” he added.

The Cherangany legislator further urged Jubilee leaders not to exchange words with NASA and instead be civil when engaging the opposition. He reminded Jubilee leaders that NASA had lost an election and they were grieving.

“That is why I am telling my friends at Jubilee that it is very fundamental for us also to respect the Opposition because they are leaders. Let us use the right language, a bit of decorum,” Mr Kutuny advised.

“We expect respect from these people but since they have lost, they have wounds, we give them time to heal the wounds. Eventually, they will see sense because the country is bigger than anyone. I think it is very important for us to gauge and operate within the perimeter of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s acceptance speech at Bomas,” he concluded.

Mr Kutuny chimed NASA leaders for not reading and comprehending Raila Odinga’s speech of October 31 where he announced the establishment of Peoples’ Assembly, a broad-based forum to discuss issues affecting Kenyans.

Kutuny argued that Mr Odinga called for a soft exit stating that the opposition leader was no longer keen in pursuing the hard stance but instead pursuing dialogue with the ruling party.
