NASA Leaders Engage in Fierce Twitter Fight

Former Senator for Kakamega, Dr Bonny Khalwale, and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya engaged in a fierce exchange on Twitter after disagreeing on development projects in the county.

On Thursday, a picture was posted showing pupils of Shikhokwe Primary school sitting for their Kenya Certificate of Primary School (KCPE) in a dilapidated facility.

Dr Khalwale took to Twitter to express his disappointment at Governor Oparanya for failing to construct better facilities and provide a better learning environment for the pupils.

He stated that it was a shame that such classrooms existed in the county and further blamed the constituency Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi.

This is a screamer, shame on @GovWOparanya & Hon Malulu... https://t.co/Oqw3EFUd7T

This is Shikokhwe Primary school. Pupils were told to sit in that mud structure for a reason better known to the masters like @KBonimtetezi pic.twitter.com/rarPdepiXP

Visit Ikolomani and see the schools for yourself also goggle KNEC to see how I transformed performance in both KCPE & KCSE https://t.co/NSvs4tDlBq

This structure was used to stage manage and create unnecessary rumours but my government has a serious ongoing project at the said school. pic.twitter.com/FjFEXaSIoG

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Dr. Khalwalwe maintained that he expressed what was shown as the state of the school on social media.

“I am not accusing anyone of anything but the pictures were in a newspaper, they speak volumes. That alone speaks for itself, the third party who is the person who took the pictures speaks for us,” Dr. Khalwale stated.

However, Kakamega Governor Dr Oparanya refuted the claims that the pictures doing rounds on social media are true.

The Governor stated that the pictures were stage-managed further adding that his government had a serious project to revamp the school.

Malava legislator Malulu Injendi told Kenyans.co.ke that the allegations were inaccurate and that was not the real situation on the ground.

“That is not the correct position on the ground. The school has my two CDF classes, and three others built by the butali factory and the county government,” Mr Injendi stated.
