NASA Leaders Begin Process to Divide Kenya

A section of National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders led by Governors; Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Amason Kingi (Kilifi) and Senator Stewart Madzayo has announced the commencement of a process to secede the coastal region from Kenya.

Addressing the media on Friday afternoon, the leaders explained that the Government had no moral authority to govern them and as such, they had begun the process of pulling out from Kenya.

"It is no longer feasible for us as a people to continue in a country that doesn't recognise our aspirations as legitimate.

"We, therefore, wish to announce the beginning of a consultative process towards secession of the coastal region," the statement read in part.

Governor Joho explained that the process will bring together all the people and will use legal means both locally and internationally.

He further noted that the leaders will go back to the people and engage them on the matter.

"This is just but the beginning of a consultative process that will involve a broad network of people to be able to realise what we have just announced.

The journey to realise secession for the coastal people has just begun," Joho stated.

During the presser, the leaders also announced a team of four leaders that has been formed to come up with the roadmap for the plan.

The team comprises of Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki, his Kilifi counterpart Mr Madzayo together with legislators, Owen Baya (Kilifi North) and Abdulswamad Nassir (Mvita).

Earlier this month, the leaders threatened to proceed with the secession process if "an illegitimate election is held on October 26th ".
