Aukot Announces Plan to Launch His Resistance Movement

Thirdway Alliance Party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot on Friday announced plans to launch his own resistance movement, calling on members of the public to ignore the National Resistance Movement (NRM) formed by National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

Aukot took to his Twitter account to reiterate that he was the official leader of the opposition and dismissed the NRM as Kalongolongo 'playing house'.

"As the 'official' opposition leader I will be launching the real Resistant Movement. Ignore and now RESIST his Kalongolongo," stated Aukot in reference to Odinga's resistance movement.

On Thursday, the Opposition set in motion its plans to destabilise the Jubilee government through civil disobedience and boycotting certain products.

NASA principals held a closed-door meeting with governors allied to the opposition in Nairobi to bring them up to speed on the plans and how to effectively play their roles.

At the same time, a group of NASA legislators convened at Capitol Hill to deliberate on economic sabotage in line with their policy on non-cooperation with Jubilee and civil defiance.

The People’s National Assembly will comprise governors and deputy governors; members of the Senate, National Assembly and County Assembly; religious, trade unions and civil society leaders; representatives of youth and women organisations.

According to NASA CEO Norman Magaya, the governors present pledged to take the proposal to their county assemblies for approval and mobilise grassroot leaders to the conference when it is convened.

Opposition leaders opted to form a resistance movement after sitting out the fresh Presidential election that took place on October 26.

According to Odinga, the election was a sham and the only way to teach the government a lesson was calling on his supporters to boycott some products.
