Embu Governor Martin Wambora Loses His Election Application

Embu Governor Martin Wambora on Wednesday lost an application seeking to dismiss the election petition challenging his win.

The Embu Governor had applied to the High Court to have the election petition filed by former Senator Lenny Kivuti thrown out.

Justice Florence Muchemi dismissed the matter affirming that the case against the governor's win would continue as scheduled.

In his petition, the former Senator claimed that Mr Wambora conspired with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to alter the actual results.

Through his lawyer Wilfred Nyamu, Mr Kivuti noted that he had beaten Wambora by 487 votes but IEBC ignored the right tally.

He also accused the electoral body of failing to supply him with forms 37A and 37B which contained the real results.

He, therefore, wants the declaration by IEBC that the Governor won the election be declared null and void.

Mr Kivuti filed the case after withdrawing a constitutional petition that he had lodged seeking to block Wambora from being sworn in.

The Embu governor survived two impeachments attempts during his first term after the Members of County Assembly unsuccessfully tried to kick him out of office.
