Jubilee Leaders Give Raila 1 Condition for Interim Government

Jubilee Party leaders have given one condition to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga after the Opposition chief called for an interim government.

Led by Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, the leaders have stated that consultative talks will only take place after President Uhuru Kenyatta is sworn in.

The leaders further clarified that the ruling party is not interested in power-sharing or even a distribution of government positions.

"This very old person is now asking Uhuru to move over and give him some room. Eti songea ngamia kidogo maana nje kunanyesha (move over for the camel because it's raining outside).

"We are asking Uhuru not to accept such an arrangement because it will only result in all of us being kicked out," CS Kiunjuri illustrated.

Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki affirmed that the ruling party was not against holding talks with the Opposition.

"Let me reiterate that we (Jubilee) are not against this idea of consultative talks as NASA is asking. Only that these talks be for the benefit of our nation Kenya," he asserted.

The leaders were sharing their views during the burial of former minister Kabeere M'mbijjewe in his Marimba Farm in Meru county.

Former presidential candidate Joe Nyaga who also attended the funeral advised the ruling party to put Kenya first.

"It is now up to those of us who are in power not to disappoint the people of Kenya," he urged.
