Details Emerge on How August Elections Were Rigged

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua on Wednesday disclosed how the August 8 General Election was rigged to favor some candidates.

Moments after losing the election petition challenging Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru's win, Ms Karua noted that there were arranged meetings by some of the leaders on a ploy to inflate the votes.

The Narc Kenya chief divulged that she was invited to participate in the meetings to perpetuate electoral fraud, but she turned down the invitation.

"This time, there was an oblique invitation to participate in the electoral fraud, but I said I had won without offending rules and I was sure I would still win.

"Even those who went for certain training which I will not name, knew that there would be electoral fraud at that time. So it is an open secret," she conveyed.

She further stated that part of the fraud perpetated in the General Election was instigated to favor some candidates in the 2022 polls.

"If we do not address the issue of election fraud on August 8, 2017 General Election, we have laid a basis for people to be able to elect themselves through computer in 2022," Ms Karua stated.

She maintained that she was rigged out from the Kirinyaga race arguing that many voters were altered to ensure the former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary won the seat.

According to the former Minister of Justice, the rigging cut across the whole country adding that: "As a nation, we must know that very many people have adopted cheating as a means of acquiring political power."

Ms Karua further declared that she would not support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid adding that she was forced to support him in the previous election since he was the President's running mate.
