Raila's Vehicle Fired At

Police on Friday afternoon fired teargas canisters at Opposition Leader Raila Odinga's vehicle along Jogoo Road on its way to Nairobi Central Business District.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Odinga's son Raila Junior confirmed the incident claiming that the police were also firing live ammunition at their caravan.

"His vehicle was hit by teargas canisters along Jogoo Road but we managed to move on with the convoy and are at Bus Station," he stated.

According to the National Super Alliance (NASA), all the passengers in the vehicle are safe as the vehicle is fitted with a state-of-the-art bullet-proof screen.

A police lorry and a minibus have reportedly been burned down by the Opposition supporters.

The supporters have overwhelmed the police who have now resorted to using water cannons to disperse the crowd.

The police have also lobbed teargas canisters at the crowd which is struggling to gain access to Uhuru Park grounds within the city center.

Reports indicate that three people have been shot and seriously wounded with one person succumbing to injuries.
