5 Things Raila Announced After Mathare Attack

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on Sunday afternoon issued a statement following the Mathare attack that left four people dead under unclear circumstances.

During a presser held in Mathare, he urged the leaders to observe some respect and tolerance calling them to avoid making statements that amount to incitement.

He noted that this kind of incitement is what will drive the country to hell as the supporters are the ones looking up to their leaders.

The former Prime minister also urged the Kenyan media to go beyond ethnic discrimination in presenting the various kinds of news.

He blamed them for selectively portraying the NASA team as aggressors during the Friday clash that occurred between his supporters and the Police.

He further noted that the whole scuffle that ensued following his arrival was state sponsored to sabotage NASA activities.

"The act of police barricading roads, attacking people using live bullets must be condemned in strongest terms possible," he stated.

He accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for inciting the police and their supporters into ethnic hatred.

Mr Odinga finally noted that the excessive use of force by the Police has heightened to the extent that the country needs international intervention to end the vice.

Finally, he took a swipe at the church leaders accusing them of their prolonged silence on this matters.

"I am shocked to see church silent, what they always do is equating wrong and right, they should make a clear stand," he noted.
