According to the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), the Government of South Sudan also sent their congratulatory message to the President-elect.

The two become the first countries to congratulate Mr Kenyatta following the Supreme Court ruling that upheld his win.

Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga ruled in favor of Mr Kenyatta during their final verdict on the presidential election petition.

The six-judge bench unanimously dismissed the three petitions that were filed to challenge the declaration of President Kenyatta as the winner of the presidential election.

The Chief Justice noted that the petitions lacked merit and were thus dismissed.

He also stated that the two presidential petitions were consolidated and heard together because of time pressure and that the judges had arrived at the final decision unanimously.

The CJ added that the detailed judgment of the presidential petition should be issued within 21 days of the determination issued on Monday.
