NASA Postpones Announcement on Way Forward

The National Super Alliance's (NASA) announcement regarding the way forward has been postponed from Thursday to Saturday.

Speaking to KTN News, Nyando MP Jared Okello confirmed the rescheduling adding that the announcement had been moved to allow Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who is out of the country, to travel back.

"We were meant to have a big announcement tomorrow but that has since been pushed to Saturday. This is because NASA leader Raila Odinga is still out of the country," he stated.

He explained that the announcement had been scheduled for Friday last week but because of "uncivilized police action" it did not take place.

"We were meant to have a serious announcement that was thwarted by Uhuru Kenyatta and his uncivilized police when the former Prime Minister arrived from America," the MP stated.

Regarding contents of the announcement, the newly elected legislator noted that the Opposition leader will address the political situation in the country and give a summary of his trip to America and Europe.

On Monday, the Alliance indicated that it will provide a way forward in five days after the Supreme Court upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the repeat October election.

After the ruling, NASA Head of Secretariat, Norman Magaya, maintained that the election was a sham and promised to give the next course of action for the opposition coalition.

"We can see it before it happens. Refused to validate a sham election on 26.10.17 and refused to legitimize the charade through SCOK. We remain masters of our own destiny. In 5 days we will get there," he stated.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications, Philip Etale, on his part urged all the coalition's supporters to remain calm as they await the way forward from their leaders.

"NASA supporters across the country are advised to remain calm and not to react to any form of provocation by our opponents. Be calm, still, focused and wait for the way forward from the NASA leadership," he stated.
