Joho, Kingpin of Mombasa Terror Group - NCIC Reveals

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Commissioner Morris Dzoro has linked Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi to the outlawed Mombasa Republican Council (MRC).

Commissioner Dzoro claimed that the two Governors were the masterminds behind the formation of the Kenyan coast secessionist group.

"These two individuals were the brains behind the Mombasa Republican Council that propagated hate and divisive politics with the aim of causing chaos in the traditionally peaceful region.

"These are the same people that supported the proponents of 'Pwani si Kenya' during the Mwai Kibaki regime before Ananiah Mwaboza and I neutralized MRC," Mr Dzoro stated

The Commissioner further labeled the two leaders as "mean persons who do not have the interests of locals at heart" following their calls for secession of the coastal region from Kenya.

Mr Dzoro challenged the two Governors to first account for county funds used in their first terms before claiming to have goodwill toward citizens.

"Joho and Kingi have mismanaged the little they have received under devolution, how can they be trusted with an entire region?" the former Cabinet Minister posed.

The NCIC official was speaking during a stakeholders meeting on countering violent extremism in Hola Town, Tana River County, earlier in the week.

Governor Joho has been vocal about the need for the Coast to cut-away from Kenya claiming that secession would solve many of the region's prolonged problems, key among them land distribution.

"We must secede after one month, a year or two, five years or even 10 years. This is a conversation that we must have. Kenya won't be the first and last country to agitate for secession. It has happened elsewhere," Joho stated.

He has also distanced himself from the MRC based on the illegal activities associated with the group.

"Unlike them, we recognize Coast is Kenya but we want self-rule through legal means," he announced.
