Musalia Mudavadi's Action Causes Division in NASA

National Super Alliance (NASA) Principal Musalia Mudavadi’s move to appoint Barrack Muluka as Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Secretary-General has caused a rift in the party.

On Friday, eight ANC members filed two separate petitions before the Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung’u seeking to quash Muluka’s appointment.

The first petition filed by Ibrahim Memba termed the appointment as 'gross violation of the party constitution'.

The second petition entailed seven members of the party led by Evans Nyaribo who argued that the party violated the Political Parties Act in replacing former Secretary-General Benson Osotsi.

The team also stated that the meeting held by the committee to endorse Muluka was inconsistent with the party's Constitution.

They demanded that a fresh election comprising of party officials be held to elect the secretary-general.

"The minutes of the said meeting were fraudulent and exposes key party officials to criminal charges for violation of offenses contained in the Political Parties Act," Nyaribo stated.

Muluka once worked as NASA leader Raila Odinga's campaigns Director of Communication.

He later resigned following a strained relationship with some of Mr Odinga’s close aides reported to have constantly interfered with his work.
