4 Major Roads That Will Be Closed For Uhuru's Inauguration

Four major roads will be closed off for President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.

The roads are; Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, Museum Hill all the way to the junction of Limuru, Professor Wangari Maathai road and Thika Super Highway up to Kasarani stadium.

These roads were designated as red zones during the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto next week.

Motorists were urged to avoid using the routes since the roads will be closed off and they may be inconvenienced.

Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome affirmed that the routes will have “maximum security” cautioning that any person breaching the law will be dealt with firmly.

“Anyone causing trouble along the red zones will be firmly dealt with,” Koome told journalists during a press briefing on Saturday.

He ascertained that any breach of law will be dealt with firmly, warning that security of more than 20 Heads of State and other dignitaries attending the ceremony could not be compromised.

A multi-agency team drawn from the National Police Service (NPS), County Inspectorate, and military personnel will be involved in the security of the city and Kasarani stadium.

“It is a historic day and I want to ensure Kenyans and all foreigners residing in this city will be safe,” Mr Koome stated.
