When First People's Assembly Will Take Place - NASA Announces

The National Super Alliance (NASA) announced when they will hold their first people’s assembly convention.

Speaking on Saturday in Machakos, the coalition's Chief Campaigner Musalia Mudavadi stated that they will have their first convention in December.

“We shall hold the inaugural convention of the People’s Assembly in December 2017,” Mr Mudavadi declared.

Mr Musalia further declared that they would protect county governments from being attacked by the Jubilee administration.

The NASA coalition leaders and other members had met at Maanzoni Farm where they deliberated on the way forward for the coalition.

County Assemblies that passed the motion include Busia, Siaya, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Makueni and Kilifi.

However, the High Court in Kitui issued orders barring County Assemblies from passing or implementing the opposition’s motions on the formation of the People’s Assembly.

Justice Lilian Mutende issued the order pending determination of a case filed by a lobby group, Counties Development Group.

NASA had announced its resolve to push for the formation of the People’s Assembly after the announcement of President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the October 26 poll.

The opposition stated that the People’s Assembly will have a task force that will be charged with coming up with suggestions of how to change the Constitution, including the structure of government and the elections regime.
