Police Boss Exposes How NASA Leaders are Lying to Supporters

Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome on Sunday divulged how National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders were lying to their supporters.

Koome noted that the opposition leaders were misleading their supporters by telling them that they have notified the police of the planned memorial service set to take place at Jacaranda.

Lawyer Edwin Sifuna allegedly wrote to Embakasi OCPD James Ekwenye on Saturday to tell him of the rally and copied Nairobi boss in his letter.

Koome, however, faulted Sifuna for not writing the letter to the Soweto OCS as the venue is in his jurisdiction.

"The rally is illegal, Babu Owino is the area MP and he must be very well aware this area is in Soweto.

"They should stop lying to Kenyans that they have notified police. It is wrong for senior people and elders to tell lies. Any people going there will be doing so at their own risk," the Police boss stated.

He termed the move as a scheme meant to fool NASA supporters and further cautioned Kenyans against going to the area on Tuesday.

Koome clarified that the law requires anyone planning to hold any procession, public meeting or demonstration to inform the OCS of the area.

"The law requires that the notification be made at least 24 hours before the event to allow preparation and mobilization of security officers," Koome noted.
