Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has been ordered to keep off university affairs and focus on his parliamentary duties.
Speaking to the media, a section of university student leaders noted that Babu was no longer a student leader and as such, he should stop interfering with the operation of the student unions.
The group which spoke at Multi Media University (MMU) noted that the university student unions were facing crisis since former leaders were still involved in their affairs despite vacating office.
MMU student President Robin Boit explained that Kenyan Universities had for a long time experienced difficulties in their operations because of poor leadership from leaders who were only interested in their own interests.

“Time has come for us to streamline our representation by having sober and formidable leaders who care about comrades welfare,” he stated.
Boit specifically asked Mr Owino to stay away from the leadership of the Kenya University Students Union (KUSU) to allow the current regime to exercise its mandate.
“We wish to call upon former students who continue to clinch onto university leadership positions to step aside immediately,” Boit mentioned.
The Technical University of Kenya President, on her part, explained that the unions were in a crisis and in need of good leadership.
Babu Owino served as the University of Nairobi Student Organisation (SONU) Chair until August 2017 when he was elected to parliament.
