How NASA Will Sabotage President Uhuru Kenyatta's Plan to Name Cabinet

National Super Alliance (NASA) on Wednesday unveiled a new plan to sabotage the naming of the cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

National Assembly Leader of Minority, John Mbadi, noted that they would not submit their list of members to the Committee of Appointment of the National Assembly.

The Committee which is chaired by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi is expected to vet Cabinet Secretaries as soon as they are nominated for appointment by the President.

Their approval will pave the way for the nominees to be announced by the President.

The Suba South MP noted that the move was initiated following the Maanzoni declaration made in Machakos county on Friday that resolved not to recognize Kenyatta's Presidency.

“We do not want to be party to the appointment of CSs because we do not recognise the election of President Kenyatta as President,” he stated.

"This is the reason why we will not participate in the formation of this committee and the vetting of his CSs," he noted.

Nonetheless, the ODM Chairman divulged that the Opposition would submit the representatives to the other house committees including Housekeeping, watchdog and departmental.

According to the Public Appointments Act, nominees for CS must be vetted by the National Assembly before the President formally appoints them.

Mr Mbadi is the deputy chair in the committee on selection which oversees the formation of house committees.
