Jubilee Nominates Emmy Kosgei's Father For EALA Post

Jubilee Party on Thursday nominated gospel artiste Emmy Kosgei's father, Bishop Jackson Kosgei, to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

The list was submitted to the House by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen.

Former Commission on Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) Chairman Charles Nyachae is also on the list of 15 individuals nominated for the regional job.

Moreover, former National Assembly clerk Justin Bundi, who previously served as clerk of the regional assembly, will also battle for the party's five slots.

Other members in the list include former MPs Wanjiku Muhia (Nyandarua), Mpuri Aburi (Tigania East), Aden Noor (Mandera North), Simon Mbugua (Kamukunji) and Abdulaziz Fara (Mandera).

Florence Sergon (Baringo), Irene Cherop (Elgeyo Marakwet), Elizabeth Wangui (Nyeri), Julie Njeri (Nyandarua), Joe Muriithi (Nyeri), Dorice Donya (Kisii) and Eunice Wanjiru (Trans Nzoia) are also on the list.

While presenting the nominees to the house, the Garissa Township MP noted that the ruling party considered gender and regional balance.

"I wish to convey our final decision...we have five slots and are submitting fifteen members," he stated.

Parliament clerks Michael Sialai (National Assembly) and Jeremiah Nyegenye (Senate) received the list.

"We are satisfied with the list but we will, henceforth, conduct scrutiny on individual candidates to check whether they meet ideal requirements," Mr Nyegenye noted.
