Joshua Otieno Obiendi, who vied for the Embakasi East Parliamentary seat on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket, has told a court how he was seriously beaten up by MP Babu Owino and his alleged goons.
Mr Obiendi told the court that he spent five days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) following the beating.
Justice Joseph Sergon heard that the incident took place at Soweto Polling Station.
Mr Obiendi stated: "Mr Owino pushed me first then addressed the goons in Dholuo telling them they should work on me properly.
"I was taken to KNH by good samaritans where I was admitted in the ICU for five days before I could gain conciousness," he continued.

Mr Obiendi went on to tell the court that he was unable to vote in the August 8 election due to the chaos.
He also noted that other than Mr Owino, he was unable to identify any of the assailants.
Obiendi was testifying in the hearing of an election petition seeking to nullify Babu's win in the August 8 election.
The petition was filed by Francis Mureithi, who ran on a Jubilee Party ticket and came in second after Mr Owino.
Babu, a former student leader at the University of Nairobi, was recently warned to keep off university affairs.
