The Finance executive in the Kisumu County newly appointed Cabinet has resigned from the post a few days to his swearing-in.
Mr Robert Kennedy Ouko, who is a former Chase Bank executive, informed Governor Anyang' Nyong'o that he would not accept his appointment despite a strong endorsement from the county assembly.
"The Finance CEC nominee resigned after informing me a few days ago that he couldn’t take up the job I offered him but thanked me altogether for the opportunity," Prof. Nyong'o confirmed.
The Governor went on to assuage any fears of a possible crisis in the county following the turn of events conveying that the docket was still functioning at optimum levels.

"We have good chief officers and directors in that docket who have been holding the department. We will, however, fill the position carefully," Governor Nyong'o assured.
Mr Ouko is said to have received another appointment that he favoured above the county position.
He had been put to task to explain the loss of billions from Chase Bank during his tenure as Director of Business Development during his interview with the county assembly.
The executive defended himself maintaining that he was never involved in any malpractice and that the matter was already in court.
The bank was put into receivership in 2016 and the ex-chairman Mohamed Zafrullah Khan charged with defrauding depositors of Sh1.7 Billion.
The court has so far heard that Mr Khan allegedly bought his wife two luxury cars and a house at a total cost of about Sh650 Million using funds from the bank.
Kisumu county assembly had given a green light to all of Governor Nyongo's nominees confident that they were competent for the posts they had been appointed to lead.
