8 Activities That Will Happen During Raila’s Swearing-in

The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Friday announced eight activities that will take place on December 12 during the planned swearing-in of its leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during a press conference at Okoa Kenya offices on Friday, Mr Eliud Owalo, a member of NASA revealed that they would start off with singing the National Anthem which is a sign of National Unity.

Mr Owalo stated that there would be prayers by different religious leaders which will then be followed by a ceremony to install “the people’s leader” and then speeches.

The Opposition will then proceed with a declaration of the congregation that will be followed by the adoption of the agenda by the assemblies.

Mr Owalo further remarked that the next agenda will be the “inauguration of the leadership”.

After that, there will be an agreement on “the people’s assembly” followed by speeches from representatives from counties, and an agreement on the resolutions which will be the last activity during the event.

The Opposition insisted that it will be going ahead with the event though questions arise on the legality of the swearing-in.

Attorney-General Githu Muigai has since warned that anybody who purports to swear themselves in as President would be committing an act of “high treason”.

Under the Assumption of the Office of President Act, the swearing-in should take place in Nairobi on a date and at a place to be designated by the committee that oversees the process and published in the Kenya Gazette.

The further maintains that the ceremony should take place between 10am and 2pm.
