4 Ways Uhuru's Swearing-in Will Be Different From 2013

President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration on Tuesday, November 28, will differ in a number of ways from the 2013 one when he took the oath of office for his first term.

First, President Kenyatta's motorcade will drive on a green carpet that has been laid on the tartan track at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

This is meant to protect the tartan track that was put in place at a cost of Sh350 Million ahead of the IAFF World Under-18 Championships earlier this year.

In 2013, his motorcade just drove on a bare track since the tartan one had not been put up.

Also, there will be no ceremonial handing over of the sword.

This is because, unlike in 2013, President Kenyatta is entering his second term and cannot hand over the sword to himself.

In the previous inauguration ceremony, he received the sword from Kenya's 3rd President, Mwai Kibaki.

Third, Kenyatta will use the bible that his father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, used when he took his oath of office as Kenya's first President in 1964.

In 2013, he used the Bible that Mzee Kenyatta used during his swearing-in as Kenya's Prime Minister in 1963.

Finally, Deputy President William Ruto will be sworn in using the Bible that President Kenyatta used in 2013.

At least 43 delegations are expected to grace the event which will take place from 10 a.m to 2p.m.
