Kisii Governor James Ongwae on Tuesday praised NASA leader Raila Odinga for postponing his swearing-in as President of the People's Assembly.
Ongwae stated that Odinga's move showed that the Opposition had the interests of Kenyans at heart.
NASA demos have previously led to loss of lives and police have been accused of killing innocent Kenyans in the altercations.

The Governor urged President Kenyatta and Odinga to embrace dialogue to unite Kenyans.
“As a country, we need to talk to each other. Worldwide, we have proof that failure to dialogue is a recipe for strife,” stated Ongwae at Gusii Stadium during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
On naming a new cabinet, the governor asked the Head of State to appoint key government officers from across the country to enhance inclusivity, regional balance, unity and development.
Earlier this week, the United States also praised Odinga for shelving plans to swear him in as the ‘People’s President’, terming the move a positive step towards national dialogue.
US ambassador Robert Godec welcomed the move and encouraged leaders from both the government and opposition to put the interests of the nation first.
NASA announced the postponement of Mr Odinga’s swearing-in on Sunday, citing internal, national and international interventions as the reasons for the decision.
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, however, stated that the coalition would announce the new date for swearing in Mr Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as President and Deputy President.
